new quantum class ship added to fleetRoyal Caribbean International confirm third Quantum Class ship is on order.

The new Quantum Class ship will be joining both Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, the fleet’s two newest ships that are due to debut in autumn 2014 and spring 2015 respectively.

The cruise line has signed a contract with the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, the company tasked with building the other two Quantum Class vessels.

Speaking about the news of the third ship, Royal Caribbean president and CEO Adam Goldstein said the following:

“We are encouraged by the very positive response we received from travel agents and consumers when we first announced some of the unprecedented offerings on Quantum class last month.

The Quantum class will offer vacationers more unexpected activities in the most extraordinary spaces, and a third ship will offer even more opportunities for vacationers to experience Quantum cruising.”

The third Quantum ship does not yet have a name, but we do know she will join the fleet in mid-2016.

About the Quantum Class ships:

The company’s new Quantum Class section of the fleet will offer a range of innovative “world firsts at sea”, bringing thrilling dining and new entertainment options to the cruise line.

Holidaymakers can look forward to:

Bigger, more innovative staterooms!  The Quantum Class ships will be smaller than the vessels in Oasis Class, but they’ll offer 9% larger (on average) staterooms, complete with modern touches, such as USB outlets.  Some interior staterooms will also feature a “Virtual Balcony”, a 80-inch LED screen providing stunning real-time views of the ocean or port.

SeaPlex – This fantastic space is set to be the largest indoor activity area at sea!  In addition to offering a range of sporting activities for passengers to enjoy, the SeaPlex will present a range of industry firsts at sea:  these include flying trapeze instruction for those seeking the thrill of the circus, fun bumper cars (that are sure to be a hit with both children and adults) and, based inside the SeaPlex is another first in the industry for hungry guests too, an authentic “food truck” full of delicious snacks to grab on the go!

The North Star  –  Guests seeking a thrilling experience and 350-degree views will enjoy The North Star, a transparent jewel-shaped pod on an ‘arm’ that transports guests 300 meters above sea level.  Not for the feint-hearted, this ride even goes over the side of the ship!

Two70° –  This new venue space offers interactive experiences day and night for holidaymakers.  It’s housed over three decks of floor-to-ceiling glass, which offers 270° panoramic views of the sea.  There’ll also be a cafe in the venue, offering a range of gourmet casual dining options.

The company recently revealed details about Quantum of the Seas’ 2014 itineraries, which went on sale to the general public this week (June 4th).

The ship will set sail from sail from Cape Liberty in New Jersey after its maiden voyage on November 23rd 2014.  From Cape Liberty, Quantum will offer seven- to 12-night tours of the Bahamas, Eastern and Southern Caribbean throughout the season.
