Enjoying a relaxing cruise break can involve a week or two of constantly sampling local delicacies, sipping alcohol through the day and eating sumptuous platefuls of food at mealtimes – but that doesn’t mean your waistline has to expand in the process!

Norwegian Cruise Line has just announced that they’re helping patrons stay fit with their exclusive TRX Suspension Training® classes.

These one-of-a-kind fitness experiences are group exercise classes that encompass strength training with resistance straps to help participants to boost their core strength and power.  The benefits are far reaching – as well as burning calories, the exercises can help to increase flexibility, enhance mobility and improve balance.

The training programme was first introduced onboard Norwegian Epic, but due to its popularity, it is now available on the whole fleet of Norwegian Cruise Line ships.  This means fitness fanatics do not have to put their gym routines or healthy lifestyle on hold during their holidays.

Guests of any age or fitness level can join the classes, this means that whether you feel like you need to shift a pound or two or you just fancy trying something new during your cruise stay, this exercise class is an option for you!

The classes are held four times a week on seven-night sailings and the cost is not included in the cruise package.

What other fitness programmes & facilities do NCL offer?

In addition to the TRX Suspension Training®, NCL offers holidayers a number of innovative ways to keep active, shed the pounds and have fun during their stay at sea.

The company pioneered the first abseiling wall at sea onboard Norwegian Epic, and there are climbing walls to enjoy onboard Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Pearl.

Norwegian Cruise Line also offer a variety of exercise classes on all of their ships, including cycling, pilates and yoga, as well as personal training sessions.

The fitness suites onboard most of the ships include treadmills, cross trainers, weight and cardiovascular equipment, elliptical free weight areas, stretching areas and aerobic studios.  Some ships also feature basketball courts, batting cages, climbing cages and running tracks too.

Or, you could burn some calories by taking a plunge in the pool and swimming some lengths before relaxing in an onboard hot tub (and enjoying the sun at the same time!)

And, if you’d like to relax after a tough workout session (or if all of that exercise sounds too much like hard work), why not visit one of NCL’s onboard spas? Enjoy a hot stone massage, a rejuvenating facial and much, much more!  (Some ships even offer Botox and teeth whitening!)
